Job Description
As the Senior Director, Platform & Architecture, you will play a pivotal role
in shaping our platform strategy and ensuring the alignment of architecture
direction with Epsilon auto's vision to bring customer-valued innovation to
market faster. Your expertise and leadership will be crucial in maintaining
the scalability, performance, and security of our software systems.
You will oversee end-to-end product architecture including database, software,
and system; define, implement, and communicate processes that assure alignment
to architectural standards. You will collaborate closely with peers in
Engineering and Product Management and other key stakeholders to ensure the
right technology approaches are being implemented across development teams
that set us up for success in the future and create and drive business value.
You will partner effectively across Epsilon to infuse platform-centric and
domain-centric thinking while enabling OEM customized solution with modern
data and platform vision. You will help drive the transformational change in
technology with the ability to effectively prioritize and perform in a high-
pressure environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Architectural & Platform:
Define and drive the long-term software and data architecture strategy.
Create principles, policies and a governance approach that ensure the
architecture aligns with the business and technology strategy.
Establish and communicate architectural standards, best practices, and
data management process to ensure software quality and maintainability.
Lead strategic technology domains starting with data management. Create
and align data platform, design and optimize data models, schemas, and
data pipelines to support efficient data ingestion, storage, and
retrieval.
2. Technical Oversight and Transformation:
Collaborate with development teams to solve complex technical challenges
and provide technical direction. Partner closely with cross functional
teams to identify opportunities for improvements to our technology stack
and platform.
Review and contribute software design decisions to ensure alignment with
architectural principles. Influence and evangelize modular, modern
software architectures across the broader ecosystem.
Act as a subject matter expert in technical transformations such as:
legacy to modern technology, application platform creation, and cloud
migration. Drive and lead incubation of new technology and solutions.
Develop and maintain security best practices and ensure adherence to
relevant industry standards and compliance requirements. Conduct regular
audits and assessments of data architecture to identify areas for
improvement and implement necessary changes.
3. Leadership & Collaboration:
Work closely with project managers and cross-functional teams to define
project requirements and ensure architectural alignment.
Work closely with other architects to create holistic technology solutions
for our customers. This requires an equal part collaboration with the
product management and engineering management.
In addition to building and running an industry-leading platform, you will
also work closely with engineering leadership team to focus on the
business aspects of the platform, most notably the ability to drive our
gross margin through responsible owner-mentality infrastructure cost
management.
4. Documentation and Communication:
Create and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, including
diagrams, guidelines, and standards.
Communicate architectural decisions and strategies to both technical and
non-technical stakeholders.
Mentor engineers on architecture best practices and standards.
Build a strong architecture community, actively understanding and
participating in the improvement of the broader architecture and
engineering practice in Epsilon Auto. Promoting knowledge sharing and
continuous improvement.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or closely related discipline.
Advanced degree is preferred.
15+ years of experience in solution or software architecture role.
Experience as chief architect or principal level enterprise architect role
for an entire organization or a large portfolio.
Experience in building applications, solutions, and reusable capabilities
as well as integration with SaaS solutions using superior security,
standard methodologies, and leading technologies.
Demonstrated ability to think analytically and independently, providing
the thought leadership necessary to introduce incremental and evolutionary
change.
Experience in building platforms, preferably any data platform, at an
enterprise level. Proven experience in defining data architectures
optimized for large-scale, hybrid structured and unstructured data
sources.
5+ years of experience as a data architect. Proficiency in data model,
data management systems, data governance, database technologies (e.g.,
SQL, NoSQL) and data integration tools.
Extensive knowledge of Oracle database technologies and related tools
Ability to work in a ‘hands-on' environment that requires a consultative
and collaborative approach and solutions that span multiple business
functions. Rapid prototyping skills for evaluation and verification of
architectural choices
Deep experience with modern architectures with an emphasis on high-scale
and resilient patterns.
Experience with cloud-based architectures, microservices. Experience in
migrating to AWS cloud is a plus
Experience with and the ability to set a vision for a transformational
change in support of the transformation from legacy systems to a set of
modern, modular services.
Experience defining and communicating a technical strategy and vision that
encompasses an enterprise view across a large portfolio of capabilities.
Strong communication and partnership building skills. Proven ability to
influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
Working experience with modern development and delivery methodologies such
as Agile, Extreme Programming and the CI/CD maturity model
Proven ability to work under rapid development cycles with larger teams to
achieve a common goal.
Experience building a culture of innovation and transforming innovative
concepts and ideas into business outcomes.
Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best
practices in data architecture and governance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Auto software, or auto data management experience.
Certification in software architecture or related field.
Experience having successfully guided the refactoring of a large
monolithic application into multiple microservices.
Experience with AI, Machines Learning, Automation, Technology
Modernization, Generative AI and a heavy Cloud background.
Salary Range: $200,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
