Reporting to the SVP Technology, this West Chicago, IL based Senior Director Technology Development will lead the team responsible for the ongoing management, enhancements, and new development of major OEM solutions supporting the Automotive Agency practice.

We are looking for a seasoned leader to bring innovation and strong development practices in the support and creation of Tier 1, 2, and 3 marketing programs. This position will manage a team of onshore and offshore employees and contractors through the delivery of a formal roadmap execution and be the primary leader of architectural design and execution of database, integration, and UI components to meet these client programs.

Bringing this team together under a single leader will enhance consistency and efficiency of operationalization and communication, with the goal of driving exceptional client experience, growth of revenue, and gross profit.

Given that development and management involve many different functions, key to success for this role will be the Director's ability to create, lead and nurture an eco-system of internal partners including Operations, Sales, Product, Legal, Security, Learning & Development, and Finance across key geographies. This will require the Sr Director Technology Development to have strong collaborative instincts, strategic experience and confidence in architectural and delivery decision-making. Importantly, the Sr Director will also need to demonstrate proven experience in bringing to market with success complex, integrated, Automotive solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership - the Sr Director will be expected to develop, prioritize - and gain alignment to - a comprehensive roadmap for Epsilon OEM programs and brings to fruition successful launches for enhancements and new development. This person will be expected to work very closely with Sales and Analytic teams, taking a fresh perspective in designing innovative approaches that will a) reflect Epsilon's core strengths, competencies and priorities, b) reasonably push the boundaries of what's possible by integrating (and sometimes supplementing) these core capabilities; c) distinguish Epsilon from competition based on the value and quality of our programs, d) and maximize Epsilon's position in the marketplace.

The Sr Director will be expected to demonstrate inspiring leadership to the Development team, leveraging deep experience and knowledge of technologies and integrated solution design in a professional services environment such that it drives innovation, collaboration and excellence in customer engagement and program deliverability. In addition,this person is expected to communicate technology roadmaps and strategy clearly and persuasively to a broad leadership team.

Expected Job Functions:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership over multiple account engagement teams comprised of both new application design/build and maintenance/break-fix resources driving the stability and growth of strategic multi-channel loyalty platforms and database marketing technologies.
  • Provide thought-leadership to staff and clients related to solution architecture, solution capabilities, applied SDLC and application/database maintenance operations.
  • Support business development efforts within the sector with primary focus on assigned accounts. This includes conceptual design, sizing and pricing, proposal development, proof-of-concept development, contracting and supporting sales presentations.
  • Lead implementation teams to ensure quality, completeness, and timeliness of solution delivery.
  • Accountable for overall account resource planning and management as well as monitoring financial performance of all engagements and optimizing staff and delivery scope against financial targets.
  • Scope and plan required application/database infrastructure needs to support client engagements and monitor the delivery of requested infrastructure deployments.
  • Serve as first-line of escalation from the project delivery teams on major operations issues and delivery challenges
  • Meet with external clients to review account performance, resolve delivery issues and plan future phases of work.
  • Manage offshore development team, and knowledgeable around driving cost savings/efficiencies via offshore team.
  • Stay abreast of latest marketing technology trends and all of Epsilon's product offerings to integrate into annual account planning efforts, business development efforts and overall client marketing technology roadmaps.
  • Manage career growth and development of staff through coaching and mentoring. Set goals and monitor performance against those goals throughout the year.
  • Communicate effectively with direct supervisor and upper management on engagement activities and overall health of the engagement. Synthesize relevant information on key milestones, success criteria, staff and client and risks. Escalate critical issues appropriately.
  • Responsible for overseeing and implementing continual process improvement initiatives; both corporate driven as well as individually defined.
  • Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 12 years of direct experience managing complex IT projects, preferably in the technology marketing space; this individual should be comfortable managing the full development lifecycle
  • Have experience managing teams of 25+ across multiple functional areas.
  • Have strong experience in UI/UX design, Mobile app, Portal development.
  • Strong Technical background in .net Microsoft stack, Angular, middleware API design, Node JS, SQL Server, Oracle, Greenplum are plus.
  • Have experience managing in an environment with multi-country/cultural teams
  • Be an expert in agile, full development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Have excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple, high priority efforts effectively under significant deadline pressure.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills, including ability to present to large groups.
  • Outstanding negotiation skills to work with multiple internal clients.

  • Knowledge of marketing strategies and analytic driven solutions is a plus.

  • Demonstrated history of working with external clients or internal business partners at the executive level.
